If you know me, you know that I love Star Wars. I’m proud of it too, I have tons of merchandise in my office, at home and heck I’m even wearing a Star Wars watch while writing this. OH and The Empire Strikes Back is playing on the small TV in my office right now too! (For some reason having it on in the background helps me focus) So here today is my story of how Star Wars became such a big part of my life…
Growing up my parents were VERY strict on what I was allowed to watch on TV. The list of shows and movies banned in our house could go on and on but we don’t have time for it. Let’s just put it this way, if it wasn’t rated G we didn’t watch it. And if it was rated G but had any type of magic or anything that wasn’t “holy” in it we didn’t watch it either. It was frustrating for me because every time I went with my mother to the video store and asked if we could take a movie home I heard NO most of the time. I still remember being at the video rental place in the small store called Ream’s by our house. I saw the art work on a box of a movie that looked better than anything I had seen before, it was Star Wars. What was Star Wars? I had to find out… I checked the back of the box and was saddened to find out it was rated PG, usually an automatic NO in our house. But I couldn’t resist, so I asked my mom if we could watch it. She said YES, it just so happened to be one of her favorites. I could not believe it! I was so excited. We took it home and watched it; I loved every minute of it. Then you could imagine how excited I was to find out that there were two more Star Wars movies. This day just kept getting better and better. That day it became my MISSION to watch the next two movies, in order, and find out what happened to Luke Skywalker. I still remember where I saw them too. I watched Empire Strikes Back at my best friend Daniel Moore’s house when I stayed the night, and I watched Return of the Jedi one night at Paula Hilton’s house when she was babysitting my siblings and I. I had accomplished my mission, and at such a young age too. I could not have been more than 8 years old, but I was passionate about what I was doing.
What are you passionate about? What is your mission? Are you actively pursuing your dreams and taking the necessary steps to fulfill your mission? If not, I want to challenge you to do so.
Galatians 6:9 says “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” If we stick to our mission that God has given us there will be a day when the harvest if finally reaped. The truth is that God is on our side, but when we get on HIS side and follow HIS plans for our lives nothing can stop us.

Captain Skywalker, this was awesome! You are an awesome Star Wars captain cause you give me energy boosts and feed my hungry and neglected pet. :) Thank you Captain!
ReplyDeleteOn another note, thank you for the insight! our mission is to be changed "from Glory to Glory" to reflect our Father's character. Too bad Darth Vader changed from great apprentise to not so good looking with that mask...
